West Fork turns in rare dominant performance

ST. ANSGAR — It has been a long time since West Fork — or any team for that matter — came into St. Ansgar and turned in such a dominant performance over the Saint girls’ basketball team.

But the Warhawks, out to prove they are the team that was selected to win the Top of Iowa East, did just that on Friday, Jan. 28 in the form of a 62-27 win over St. Ansgar.

With junior 6-foot-2 post Madison Hillman out of the starting lineup and limited in action due to recovering from illness, coach Scott Cakerice’s team was already at a slight disadvantage.

“Sickness and injuries,” Cakerice said of his different starting five. “We didn’t even know if Madison was going to be here tonight, she was sick all week. She’s not at full-speed, but that doesn’t make a difference with our inability to get the ball up the floor.”
