West Fork dashes Osage title hopes
By Kristi Nixon
SHEFFIELD — The way the season started for the Osage girls basketball team, just the thought of playing for a Top of Iowa East Conference title on Monday, Feb. 5 was a feat head coach Chad Erickson gladly entertained.
However, West Fork played the spoiler, coming out on fire and then withstood the Green Devils’ third quarter rally for a 57-45 victory at West Fork High School.
“That’s what we just told them,” Erickson said. “We lost, didn’t play awesome, but we still have a chance: you just have to go win one game. I think they’ll be ready to go Thursday (a makeup game against Central Springs, now the conference leader). I mean, they’re still young and they are still making some mistakes, but they battle, they fight.
“They are doing what we ask them to do. We just have some things we can clean up and understand.”
