ROCKFORD — Even with a convincing 54-18 victory over Rockford, Osage girls basketball coach Chad Erickson wasn’t pleased with what he saw from his Green Devils.

The 7-3 team came out slow and didn’t play to what Erickson thought his team was capable of against the 1-8 Lady Warriors.

“First day back to school,” Erickson said. “They admitted they were tired today. It is what it is.”

Both teams struggled with the field with the Green Devils going for 32.3 percent and Rockford at 25 percent, but with more second- and third-chance opportunities and the visitors forcing 25 turnovers to lead to points on the other end.

Usually only going seven-eight players deep, Osage was glad to have starter Kaebre Sullivan back after missing three games before the break.

“She brings athleticism and size we’ve been missing for three games,” Erickson said, “so it’s nice to have her back.”
