Six from area to IGCA All-State softball teams

DES MOINES — Two members of each Enterprise Journal area softball teams earned all-state status, announced last week.

Class 1A honorees included second team selection junior Mallory Juhl from St. Ansgar.

Juhl, an outfielder and pitcher, averaged .432 at the plate and an on-base percentage of .500 for coach Lance Schutjer’s Saints. She made 20 appearances in the circle, posting a 7-1 record and a save and an ERA of 1.84. She struck out 50 and walked seven.

Honorable mention in 1A included the Saints’ senior third base Kennedy Schwiesow and Riceville infielders freshman Lily Fair and junior Madison Mauer.

Class 2A second and third team honorees included Osage senior pitcher Ashley Halbach and junior third base Leah Grimm, respectively.
