Saints serve up sweep of West Fork

ST. ANSGAR — When the season started, the St. Ansgar volleyball team had a question mark in its serving game.
Nearly 100 percent of the Saints’ servers had graduated, so coach Tyler Johnson was starting over from scratch.
But on Tuesday, Sept. 13, as a group St. Ansgar served up 21 aces in a 25-11, 25-13, 25-16 sweep of West Fork.
All but one of the nine servers for the Saints had at least one ace in the match, led by six for Addison Tabbert, who was 14-of-17 from the service line. Tabbert and the rest of the Saints were out to show they are just as good as the years past
“Yes we did,” Tabbert said. “We struggled a little bit at the start of the season, but then as we progressed, we began to trust each other. We tell each other, ‘Don’t think about it, just serve.’”
Johnson added, “We missed some, too, but one of our advantages we have right now is serve other teams pretty tough. I think that showed against North Butler, and it showed again tonight. We were kind of on fire with the serving. We obviously put a lot of pressure on their serve receive.”
