Coach Scott Cakerice’s St. Ansgar team exacted its revenge with a 42-25 Class 1A Region 6 opening victory over the Lady Vikings, advancing to the quarterfinal at Mason City Newman High School against the Knights on Tuesday, Feb. 13.

The Saints move on at 13-9 while N-K ends its season at 7-15.

“That hurt us, obviously,” senior guard Kinsey Anderson said. “We weren’t happy with that loss last time. We knew we had to battle back and we knew we didn’t play our best game. They brought it to us. (We) just practiced this week, getting better, knowing that we were capable of beating them. Knowing we could do it, just play our game, and not letting them affect ours.”
