GREENE — With the Top of Iowa East Conference title firmly in hand, Osage showed no signs of taking the foot off the gas pedal in a 57-12 girls basketball victory on Tuesday, Jan. 25 at North Butler.

The Green Devils scored their 11th win in a row, starting back to when they defeated the Bearcats the first time this season on Dec. 14, 2021.

Junior Samie Brandau, who went 8-for-9 from the field, said not much has changed in the team’s game since then.

“I don’t know if we’ve done a whole lot different for this game,” Brandau said. “I just think we’ve come together more as a team and been able to get basketball through practices and such.”

With a two-point loss for St. Ansgar at Nashua-Plainfield that night, the Green Devils now command the lead for the TIC East.

Already leading 42-7 at halftime, a three-pointer by Brooklynn Halbach to start the third quarter resulted in a continuous clock as the game was completed in less than an hour.

And Brandau says the team that plays only 7-10 players each game has grown into a tight-knit crew.

“I feel like we’re doing really well,” Brandau said. “At the beginning of the season I feel like we had a few games where we struggled a little bit. But, right now we’re working really well as a team together.”
