DIKE — Osage was seeking its second Class 2A state golf berth in three years, but had a rough outing while the competition played outstanding in finishing fifth in the seven-team field at Dike’s Fox Ridge Golf Club on Tuesday, May 14.

The top two teams and six low individual golfers advanced to Coldwater Golf Links in Ames on May 20-21. Waterloo Columbus shot 298 to win and Hudson was the runner-up, scoring 306 to advance.

“At this time of year, you are required to play your best golf of the year,” Osage head coach Eric Goddard said. “We did not play bad – we were just average, and that was not going to be enough. The boys played well off the tee. We just were unable to roll in birdies and avoid some costly three putts.

“The disappointment in not moving on today is just knowing the potential of this team and the fact that these guys will never play together again.”
