Olsons get taste of state tennis

IOWA CITY — It was certainly an eye-opening experience for Kendall and Kaitlyn Olson of Osage at the Class 1A state doubles tournament on Friday, May 27.
The Green Devils played an experienced Council Bluffs St. Albert team to start, falling 6-1, 6-2, dropping the sophomore twins to the consolation bracket.
“I think the nerves kind of got us,” Kendall Olson said. “We were very . . . We didn’t know we were going to be that nervous until we stepped onto the court and everyone was watching us, but once we settled in, we calmed down. It was fun, but yeah, eye-opening. We played a really good team.”
Kaitlyn Olson added, “Their serves were awesome. They were here last year.”
The St. Albert duo of Landry Miller and Allison Narmi finished fifth for the second year in a row after being dropped to consolation in the next round by the eventual state doubles champions from Davenport Assumption.
