No slowing down Osage boys

ROCKFORD — Trying to play the slow-down game essentially didn’t work for the Rockford boys basketball team against Osage on Tuesday, Jan. 4.
The Green Devils found a way to overcome it and used their overall depth to down the Warriors, 57-21.
“Didn’t really know what to expect,” Osage coach Mike Brahn. “They came out and really tried to slow the pace down with just trying to limit our possessions. They knew that’s what they had to do to stay in the game that way.
“I thought we handled that really well. Of course, the harder you work on offense, the harder it is for you to do that.”
Senior guard Tyler Oberfoell said the team made the right adjustments after seeing what Rockford had planned.
“We didn’t know coming in that they were going to try and slow it down, but once we figured it out, we switched up defenses and then really blew it open on them,” Oberfoell said. “Which I think helped the team in confidence because we had open threes and kids were making them, so it was fun.”
Brahn added, “Second half, we switched to a trapping zone, got some easy turnovers that gave us some easy looks at the basket and some three-point looks that way.”
