Hennessey strikes a balance

GARNER — Osage senior Keagan Hennessey has found a new gear in his cross country running thanks to strength and conditioning.

Whereas Hennessey was finishing out of medal contention a year ago, he used a new off-season weight training program that has him consistently finishing among the top-10 all season in hopes of finishing his career strong.

“We did a lot of lifting this year,” Hennessey said. “A lot of lifting, running. It wasn’t too much different from last year. Coach Meier really stepped up the lifting this year. I think that will help us a lot.

“We started a new lifting program, with Coach Meier and Coach Fank started it where it is more lifting and then stretching that is really going to help.”
