Cole relays experiences in mission with Morningside University football teammates
SIOUX CITY — Morningside junior Ryan Cole is not only gifted on the gridiron.
The St. Ansgar High School graduate, from Plymouth, recently made a mission trip with his football teammates to Uganda during the school’s spring break.
Experiences abounded from the very start, he said.
“We arrived on Monday and then immediately went out into the community, to meet everyone, the local church where we did our main mission, set up fence,” Cole said of just a few of the group activities. “We were there to help the local children. A lot of them don’t have father figures, to play with and hold them. We wanted to give them the feelng that they were loved. Letting them know they are worth it and loved.”
He said the group also laid concrete, foundation for housing and painted an orphanage, as well as listened to testimonies.
“They told us how the program has changed them as men, what they can do differently in the community,” he said. “(We did) activities, not only help with the buildings: The community as well.”
