Mayday Mayhem features ‘zombie-built’ bike race
Osage – The Mitchell County Mountain Goats (MCMG) kicked off May with a mountain bike klunker race from Limestone Brewers, through Spring Park, the Mitchell County Conservation trails, and circling back to Limestone Brewers for those whose klunkers could make it back.
According to Derek Mauser, co-organizer of the Klunker race, the idea came to him after he watched a documentary about how mountain bikes were built in the 1960’s and 70’s. He said, “they stripped it [a bike] down to the frame and had to just zombie-build their own bikes back then because they didn’t have mountain bikes.
