Kisley medals in 400 hurdles, onto 100 hurdles final
DES MOINES — Osage’s Paige Kisley followed up her 100-meter finals qualification with a Class 2A state medal in the 400-meter hurdles on Friday.
She ran a full second faster than her personal best to place sixth and score three team points for the Green Devils.
“Not where I wanted to place, but I ran a good time, a PR this season, good time to do it,” Kisley said. “I hit hurdle eight, but that was the only one. I think I was just trying to catch up and I got lane six, which is hard mentally for me at first, but I knew it was going to be good.”
She ran to 1 minute, 5.89 seconds in the event and was fifth in the third and final heat.
Kisley qualified with the second-fastest time in the 100 hurdles in 15.28. She was the state runner-up in the event in 2019.
“I’m experienced and I’m a senior, so no nerves,” Kisley said, “just excitement.”
The Green Devils were tied with six other teams in 21st after the session with six events to run Saturday.
“It should be good,” Kisley said. “I’m excited.”
