A look ahead to Tuesday’s Primaries

Primary elections for the Republican, Democrat and Libertarian parties will be held at polling places throughout Mitchell County on Tuesday, June 5.

Polling places will be open from 7 a.m. to 9 p.m. in the following locations: Osage Methodist Church, New Haven Catholic Church, Riceville City Hall, Mitchell City Hall, Our Saviours Lutheran Church, Osage Public Library, Mitchell County Courthouse, Osage City Hall, Carpenter Community Center, South Square and the Stacyville Library.

Here are the offices with two or more candidates running:

Republican

Secretary of Agriculture:

Dan Zumbach, Ray Gaesser, Chad Ingels, Craig Lang, Mike Naig.

Democrat

United States Representative Dist. 1:

Thomas Heckroth, George Ramsey, Courtney Rowe, Abby Finkenauer.

Iowa Governor:

Andrea Andy McGuire, John Norris, Ross Wilburn, Nate Boulton, Cathy Glasson, Fred Hubbel.

Secretary of State:

Jim Mowrer, Deirdre DeJear.

Libertarian

Iowa Governor:

Jake Porter, Marco Battaglia.

Voters will be required to provide an approved form 0f identification at the polling place before they may receive and cast a ballot. Pre-registered voters who are unable to sho an approved ID may sign an oath of identification for an election held in 2018. Voters who are not pre-registered or who have changed precincts also may be required to provide proof of residence. Any voter who cannot show ID may have their identity attested to by another registered voter in the precinct who has proper ID.
